What is Leadership?

Defining Leadership.

Leadership is the ability to influence, lead, or guide others in order to accomplish a mission. Effective leadership results from a leader's ability to provide purpose, direction and motivation. Purpose gives subordinates the reason to act in order to achieve a desired outcome. Leadership is not about giving orders.

Military leadership:

is the process of influencing others to accomplish the mission by providing purpose, direction, and motivation. Command is the authority a person in the military service lawfully exercises over subordinates by virtue of his rank and assignment or position.
